The founder of Zoltan Laboratories, Zoltan Kiss, received his Masters degree in biology and chemistry in 1970 and his Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry and Physiology in 1972. He began his career in biological sciences at the Biological Research Center, Szeged, Hungary, in 1970, and did several years of postdoctoral research at an INSERM unit and College de France, both in Paris. From1982 until 2004 he did research at various academic institutions in the United States including the University of Connecticut (1982-1984), Emory University (1985-1986), National Cancer Institute (1987-1990), and the University of Minnesota (1990-2004). During all these years he focused his research on the various cellular mechanisms that are involved in the regulation of cell survival and proliferation. His findings have been published in 114 peer-reviewed papers. From 2004 he has been working full time as president of ZL. He is the sole inventor in 11 issued patents (U.S. and Europe) and 24 pending PCT applications. ZL's own research laboratories and many excellent contracted research groups in several countries contributed to the large volume of data that provide the basis for the intellectual property.
